Description
Puig des Galatzó (1.027 m) is located in the southern Tramuntana range. Close towns include Andratx, Calvia and Estellencs. Also Palma is within a short drive. Have you seen a high piramidal moutain while driving in the south of Mallorca? That’s it!
The tour is challenging yet rewarding. Prepare to walk. Pack something to eat as we will spend lunch time there. The reward for our ascent is spectacular panoramic views across the Tramuntana, the western coastline and towards Palma, and the summit makes a memorable picnic lunch stop and an excellent vantage point for some stunning photos!
What to bring to a hike with us:
The here weather can change unexpectedly. In the mountains, clouds can drop quickly and mist can come in from the sea, causing loss in visibility and fall in temperatures.
The terrain in Mallorca is rough so good footwear is essential. Sneakers, trainers, whatever you call them, are not recommended. Hiking shoes or boots with good grip are requiered and your guide can refuse to lead you if he/she finds it appropiate for your safety (at your own cost).
During a day’s hike we can experience heat, cold, heavy UV radiation, wind… Consequently, anything that you like to use to protect yourself from the elements is advisable.
Whatever the month it is essential to carry plenty of water, and a few snacks to top up your energy levels, are always advisable – just in case!
Find below a suggested packing list:
Good sturdy footwear – hard soles and good grip are the most essential
Day backpack
Water bottle – containing at least 1.5 litres
High energy snacks
Sun protection – hat, sun cream, sun glasses…
Light waterproofs
Additional layers for warmth – fleece, pullover…
Walking pole(s) (optional, yet recommended)
Small personal medical kit. Your guide carries a basic firts aid kit. However, he/she will not porvide prescription drugs. If there is any personal health item you may need, you must bring it along.
Other suggested items are: suim suit, binoculars, headlamp, loo paper.
